The rental prices for furnished apartments in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht and Eindhoven have decreased on average by 6.7% compared to 2020. A big advantage for internationals is that there is less competition in the market during viewings and that there is more to offer. A fair rental price is established.
Many tenants therefore also take advantage of the situation by moving within the city. Expats, but also Dutch residents, see that they can find a larger home for the same price or, for example, find a house with an outdoor space for the same price.
It seems that the current price drop is temporarily. When everyone is vaccinated the economy picks up and expats will return. In addition, there are many companies that settle in the Netherlands, partly thanks to Brexit.
